The Goal-United "Resorted Leagues": An in-depth Analysis

With much thought to the current "resorted" league system and the time at hand, the typing continues...

I for one instance is for the league system for more competitive play and closer games and leagues than perhaps anyone else is, but don't get me wrong I am against the way it was done. Why, cause it did not consider the very next season or the season after that.

What’s done is done, and I for point to point want to list out perhaps all the pros and cons and then what could perhaps be done before the next season starts.

The Pros:

-Punishes the intentional relegations, who aim of easy money and   stars (through season goals) and harass younger teams
-Gives new players some more wins, keeps them interested in the game and hence brings in more base.
-Competitive Leagues, teams need to fight equal strengths and emerge victorious makes the game more fairly this season.

Well the cons, I am sure it will be a long list, But let’s start with what’s basically wrong with the way changes made, it only considers the above three points. It doesn't even think about the aftermath. Unless the devs are aware of the aftermaths, and planning a change to neutralize it as an update next season that is okay.

The Cons:
But the fact that “this will be done only once and won’t be done every season” makes me feel that the devs after all don't know about the game that much and completely ignorant of the fact that the season will a frenzy. Why, well the following points will make it clear:

The Following things will happen the next season-

-> For every lower division league (where resorting was done) its later leagues from around 10-15 to ..., all the teams are around 10-15 strength while the 30-40 strength will filled in starting leagues.

-> 4 of these 10-15 strength will be promoted to each of the upper league and hence an average strength of 50 strength of a league will now have 4 10-15 strengths teams, by all respect what happens to all the fairness and competitiveness where they get slaughtered for a complete season.

-> Every Lower Division (from 10-15 to ...) where the 10-15 strength teams play at, will now have a super power of 50+ strength who would have been relegated this season.
  She/he will earn easy 5000 + stars + 22 wins + 200k per point.
5000+ stars from season goal of 20 wins

-> The leagues of lower divisions (from 1 to 10) which are very tight will remain inconclusive with perhaps 2 relegation and 2 promotions each season.

-> So basically managers on one hand will be earning 5k stars and 12 million, while managers on the other hand will remain in the same league for seasons to come struggling to perhaps go positive in balance sheet.

-> Teams who have got promoted to resorted leagues will be in verge of relegation, instead of when they could have kept the league and slow worked their way up they will be set 6 months back.

-> The last not but not the least, the upper divisions would be ruined. With not enough strong teams going up, upper divisions which are known for good competition won’t see the same,

Why, because only 1 out of the real 12 promotions qualifiers would go the upper division. Making the league system more of a cliff. This actually applies to almost 100 clubs.

The Damage Control:
Now I suggest what could be done:

A simple effective step starts by know that the whole division should be balanced and not just the leagues.  If the whole division is not balanced the average difference between teams getting promoted will be more than 40 points that is perhaps a lot worse they imagined.

One of the two methods that can be done:

Completely resorting the leagues: The harshest of all methods available, sort all the teams by strength then seed them and then put them in the respective divisions and leagues. E.g. The best 12 strength teams stay at division 1, The next 48 gets divided between the next four leagues of division 2 in a such a way that the entire divisions stays balanced, how (13th team will go to 2.1, 14th team to 2.2, 15th to 2.3, 16th to 2.4, 17th to 2.1 again and so on) The same resorting will go on till the end of the leagues.

The follow-up can be that promotion and relegation are not made to random leagues, but 3.1 to 3.4 get promoted to 2.1 to 2.4 respectively, then 3.5 to 3.8 get promoted to 2.1 to 2.4 respectively again, and hence forth.

This way the average strength remains same, and the same-way relegation as 2.1 teams get relegated 3.1, 3.5, 3.9, 3.13... And hence forth...

This method will work on for ages and keep the leagues balanced (more balanced than the current system), as strengths of teams getting promoted and relegated all over the divisions will be equal and hence the leagues will remain healthy and as competitive as ever.

While I am personally against this method myself, because it will be too bold a move when implemented any-when but the GU next update. While this league resorting is more practical then the previously implemented one, you will perhaps get hundreds of negative replies, complaints all sorts of things as this affects every manager. But then you were already prepared for this kind of thing when the last equally bold move was done.

Balancing the current leagues: The current leagues are flawed in a way that they don’t give the newcomers an equal chance, the only way it can be fixed is by reducing the number of the leagues in lower divisions.
Personally I think this is best idea that can be implemented to increase newbie's activities, decreasing number of dummy teams, and also decreasing the harassment of newbies by a lot stronger teams. How?

Well for lower divisions where the said difference between number the highest strength and the lowest strength is more than 20 strengths, two things can simultaneously done to decrease this.

-> Decrease the number of leagues in lower divisions and hence increase the lower divisions to accommodate the new players and ensure healthy competitions between both newbie managers and slightly experienced managers. This will also decrease no. of relegations in the league where number of leagues are being cut out.

-> Decrease the number of number of teams per leagues, this will decrease the average difference in strength and hence make is fairer league.

E.g.  Suppose 4.1 to 4.10 has average strength ranging from 50 to 30.  While the next 20 i.e. 4.11 to 4.30 will range between 30 and 15 and so on.

Decreasing the number of teams per league to 8 in every league of division 4 (just division 4). Decreasing the relegations to two instant relegations per league and one playoff.
The aim should be keeping the average strength of the whole division the same to make it more balanced everywhere.

Now the left over teams i.e. strength 15 and below can be reassigned to Division 5, where they will get an equal playing field.

The number of teams per league here should be reduced to say six (8) with the same two promotions contenders and no relegations (assuming no divisions below it).

The less numbers of matches for these teams can be compensated in two ways:

Increasing the number of league matches, or arranging a separate cup for the divisions where no. of matches are reduced. (Hence, a separate Division 4 Cup and a separate Division 5 Cup, if no. of teams have been cut in both these leagues.)

Well these steps might also include many flaws and it is not essentially perfect, but that is food for thought for another day, till then Good bye. Take Care
